After trying Pi, I wanted to explore an agent that I could keep online and access from my phone. I found Hermes Agent, which has its own runtime, tools, skills, persistent memory, and scheduled tasks.

I installed it on an ARM-based AWS EC2 instance and connected it to Telegram. I started with a t4g.small, but 2 GB of RAM was tight, so I upgraded to a t4g.medium with 4 GB.

Hermes can now manage my Obsidian notes, check email, search the web, monitor the server, and run scheduled job searches. It took some work to configure the integrations and permissions, but I now have a useful personal assistant that stays online and is accessible from my phone.

Try it out.
