Got a baffling email from OpenAI recently: a Cyber Abuse warning on my account, specifically for Codex use. No details on why.
I sent an appeal but it was shot down with a polite but firm decision upheld, no more requests.
My best guess is my Hermes Agent, doing standard dev tasks (running terminal commands, file ops, etc.) via Codex, likely looked like unauthorized access to their automated systems.
My ChatGPT Plus is tied to the same account. This warning puts all my OpenAI access at risk. Not a sustainable situation.
So, I have made an immediate pivot. I have stopped using Codex for Hermes agent tasks entirely.
This highlights a critical need for AI providers to offer transparency in moderation. Cyber Abuse without specifics is not just unhelpful. It hurts developer trust and creates unnecessary operational headaches.
